XPO Logistics extends successful relationship with Moores Furniture Group

Northampton (UK) - 12 May 2016 - XPO Logistics has secured a contract renewal with Moores Furniture Group, a leading manufacturer of kitchen and bathroom furniture, to distribute its wide range of products throughout the UK.

Based in Wetherby, West Yorkshire, Moores is part of the global Masco Corporation. The company supplies furniture to contract markets for social housing developments and private builds, and markets a number of retail brands through independent retailers. It also supplies furniture to builders' merchants and large DIY stores.

In 2013, Moores transitioned from its previous in-house distribution model to an outsourced XPO Logistics solution that aligns delivery flows with order volumes. XPO Logistics provides pre-booked and next-day deliveries in line with end customer requirements and Moores' key performance indicators.

As part of the renewal, XPO Logistics has invested in a new, dedicated fleet of over 30 vehicles to distribute products from the Moores' Wetherby manufacturing site. This service operates from XPO Logistics' strategic platforms in Motherwell, Chalton (near Luton) and Gloucester.

In addition, for large furniture products, XPO Logistics' Specialist Services operation provides last mile deliveries. Two-man teams offer direct-to-destination transport and offloading in specially equipped vehicles, and ensures that furniture is installed in perfect condition.

Dave Amerigo, operations director for Moores Furniture Group, said of the renewal: "We are delighted with the high service levels we have received from XPO Logistics since we outsourced our supply chain to the company three years ago.

"XPO Logistics' bespoke distribution solution has enhanced deliveries to our customers, while providing the service flexibility to meet both our seasonal and long-term delivery requirements. The extension of our agreement ensures that we will continue to operate with a proven logistics solution."

Dan Myers, managing director, transport solutions - UK and Ireland for XPO Logistics, commented: "As part of our long-term support of Moores, we have invested in a dedicated vehicle fleet and materials handling equipment to further optimise distribution operations for Moores and its customers."

Moores' customer service team can easily track orders and receive proof of delivery data in real-time using an integrated combination of its own technology and XPO Logistics' SHARP transport management system.
