FKI Logistex's transfer cars can be a cost-effective alternative to pallet conveyors and right-angle transfers. Transfer cars are motorized vehicles that travel from station to station on a straight, fixed track. They can serve as an alternative to long stretches of fixed conveyor or as the end-of-line conveyor for multiple production lines. The units are also used frequently at pallet pickup and drop-off positions for automated storage and retrieval systems (AS/RS).
FKI's transfer cars now have standardized methods of control, power, and positioning. The cars can move at speeds of up to 400 feet per minute, and systems can be designed with multiple induction and discharge points. As a standard option, customers can choose one or two conveyor stations per transfer car unit. Both chain and chain-driven live roller (CDLR) conveyor types are available with weight capacities of up to 3,500 pounds for a single-station unit or 7,000 pounds for a dual-station unit.
Other standard features include flanged wheels on flat-bar track mounted on top or flush to the floor, power to the units via bus bar, state-of-the-art laser-guided positioning, wireless Ethernet communications, onboard programmable logic controls (PLCs), and pre-wiring and testing prior to shipment.
