Kevin Kozusz ek has been appointed manager of marketing communications for FKI Logistex Alvey Systems and White Systems, key members of the FKI Logistex Manufacturers Team. The team provides fully integrated automated material flow solutions for the manufacturing sector, with installations for some of the largest and bestknown manufacturers around the globe. Kozuszek, who was named Alvey Systems' marketing manager in June 1999, will oversee all marketing communications activities for Alvey and White, and will work closely with the FKI Logistex Manufacturers Team on strategic marketing initiatives.

Chuck Arfsten is the 2002 recipient of the Ray Jarr Memorial Award, the highest honor granted by USCO Logistics, a North American provider of integrated supply chain solutions. The award, named for the late USCO director of risk management, is presented annually to the associate who embodies the highest principles of integrity and teamwork. Arfsten is the vice president of JCPenney Operations, based in Charlotte, N.C.


John Weston has joined FedEx Freight East as executive vice president of sales and marketing. This position was previously held by Dennie Carey, who was promoted to senior vice president of marketing for FedEx Freight Corp. in 2002.

Mike Moss has been promoted to vice president of sales for FedEx Freight East. Terry Bennett has been promoted to vice president of sales for FedEx Freight West, replacing Peter Foley, who retired in 2002. Paul Constantino has been named vice president of marketing for FedEx Freight West, a position formerly held by Keith Lovetro, who was promoted to senior vice president in 2001 and became president and CEO on Jan. 1, 2003.

Schneider National Inc., a leading transportation services provider and North America's largest private truckload carrier, has announced the promotions of Jim Van Hefty and Don Osterberg. Van Hefty has been appointed vice president and general manager of Schneider National's bulk division, while Osterberg has been appointed vice president of safety and capacity development for Schneider National. Van Hefty will be responsible for the business performance and long-term positioning of Schneider National's bulk division. Osterberg will be accountable for positioning Schneider National for future capacity gr o wth and continued safety performance. Additionally, he will oversee the company's paid training program for new driver associates.

Retail sales increased again in September as employment grew and inflation and interest rates fell, according to the National Retail Federation (NRF)’s analysisof U.S. Census Bureau data released today.

“While there have been some signs of tightening in consumer spending, September’s numbers show consumers are willing to spend where they see value,” NRF Chief Economist Jack Kleinhenz said in a release. “September sales come amid the recent trend of payroll gains and other positive economic signs. JD Logistics to double its overseas warehouse space by 2025

Chinese supply chain service provider JD Logistics today announced plans to double its overseas warehouse space by the end of 2025 as part of the company’s broader global supply chain strategy to meet the growing demand for cross-border logistics solutions.

As part of that effort, the company will also expand its network of bonded and direct-mail warehouses. That would mark a significant expansion since JD Logistics—which is the logistics arm of JD.com and is also known as “JingDong Logistics”—currently operates nearly 100 bonded, direct mail, and overseas warehouses.
