ONE to Use Navis' StowMan Stowage Planning Solution and XVELA's Cloud-based Collaboration Platform

ONE Aims to Create Higher Levels of Transparency and Collaboration Through the Integration

Ocean Network Express (ONE) is pleased to announce its plans to implement XVELA, the world's first cloud-based collaborative network for ocean carriers and terminal operators, which enhances operational efficiency by ensuring real-time insights and control via a platform of connected systems. The implementation will reinforce ONE's commitment to its core values of Quality, Reliability, Innovation and Customer Satisfaction.

In addition, ONE will upgrade its existing stowage planning tool with the advanced StowMan stowage solution by Navis, which is fully integrated with XVELA. ONE and XVELA, an affiliate of Navis, plan to implement the terminal rollout on ONE's Latin America services and will continue to expand into Asia and throughout its global terminal network. The initial rollout will leverage XVELA's services to further enhance communication and collaboration between ONE's planners and its terminal partners.

"The transparency and collaborative stowage capabilities of the XVELA and Navis integrated solutions will provide us a better decision-making process and more efficient operations across our network," said Takashi Kase, SVP Global Vessel Operations at ONE. "We have been sourcing for a technology that supports our goal in driving process innovation. We are starting with Stowage Collaboration, but we see a strong future with XVELA to bring about a positive win-win partnership between ONE and our called terminals."

ONE recently announced that it has established a loading record with 19,190 TEU aboard MOL TRIBUTE which utilizes Navis' StowMan vessel stowage planning software to optimize the ship's cargo capacity. With Navis' help, ONE was able to optimize the cargo load based on accurate vessel profile information, therefore resulting in higher utilizations, fewer restows and better user engagements.

Australian supermarket chain rolls out AI-powered grocery carts

Grocery shoppers in Australia will soon be able to zip in and out of the store in record time, bypassing the lines for cashiers or self-checkout kiosks altogether. They can just walk in, make their selections, and walk out with their bags in hand.

The secret to this express shopping experience is the “Caper Cart,” an AI (artificial intelligence)-powered smart trolley from San Francisco-based Instacart. In its first deployment in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region, the system is being tested by Coles Supermarkets, a food and beverage retailer with more than 1,800 grocery and liquor stores throughout the country.

How green is your glue?

If you’re looking to make the packaging process more eco-friendly, the obvious place to start is with the box itself. And that’s exactly what Salt Lake City-based Packsize did when it made its initial foray into sustainable packaging back in 2002. That year, the company launched its first product, an innovative on-demand packaging system designed to reduce cardboard waste (and the need for filler material) by creating a right-sized box for each shipment.

Now the company is ready for the next step: greening up the glue.
