Crown Equipment Recognizes Top Performing Dealers in Latin America

NEW BREMEN, Ohio (October 13, 2016) - Crown Equipment Corporation, one of the world's largest material handling companies, recently recognized its top-performing dealers in Latin America and the Caribbean. REAL Marketing (Trinidad & Tobago), an independent Crown dealer since 2004, rose to the challenge and received the highest honor, the Summit award, for delivering outstanding achievements in sales and customer satisfaction in 2015. In addition, four dealers earned Ascent Awards for delivering outstanding performance for the year.

"We are honored to receive this award and be part of the Crown Equipment family," said Richard de Verteuil of REAL Marketing. "We couldn't have achieved this without the dedication of our staff who strive every day to exceed our customers' expectations and anticipate their needs."

Two of the Ascent Award winners, Lift Trucks & Parts, Inc. (Puerto Rico), an independent Crown dealer since 1998, and IMEQ Dominicana, S.A. (Dominican Republic), which has been part of Crown's dealer network since 2003, have both earned this award every year since its inception in 2014. The other two Ascent Award winners, Distribuidora LARCE, S.A. (Costa Rica), an independent Crown dealer since 1974, and Montacargas y Accessorios de Nicaragua, S.A. (Nicaragua), which joined the Crown dealer network in 2005, are both first-time recipients.

"I'm always reminded that a company is only as successful as the dedicated employees and representatives who are out in the field anticipating customer needs and working together on a daily basis to solve their challenges and increase efficiency, safety and savings," said Joe Ritter, director of operations for Latin America. "These winners exemplify that dedication by working diligently to strengthen our customer relationships and helping our customers be more productive."

Crown Equipment operates a global service and distribution network that exceeds 500 locations in more than 80 countries. This includes the 20 company-owned branches and independent dealers that comprise the Latin American and Caribbean distribution network. Crown's Latin America awards program is modeled after the company's North America award program that honors the company's best branches and dealers for outstanding achievements in sales and customer satisfaction.

Australian supermarket chain rolls out AI-powered grocery carts

Grocery shoppers in Australia will soon be able to zip in and out of the store in record time, bypassing the lines for cashiers or self-checkout kiosks altogether. They can just walk in, make their selections, and walk out with their bags in hand.

The secret to this express shopping experience is the “Caper Cart,” an AI (artificial intelligence)-powered smart trolley from San Francisco-based Instacart. In its first deployment in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region, the system is being tested by Coles Supermarkets, a food and beverage retailer with more than 1,800 grocery and liquor stores throughout the country.

How green is your glue?

If you’re looking to make the packaging process more eco-friendly, the obvious place to start is with the box itself. And that’s exactly what Salt Lake City-based Packsize did when it made its initial foray into sustainable packaging back in 2002. That year, the company launched its first product, an innovative on-demand packaging system designed to reduce cardboard waste (and the need for filler material) by creating a right-sized box for each shipment.

Now the company is ready for the next step: greening up the glue.
