Manhattan Associates upgrades TMS with improved modeling, visibility

Supply chain software developer Manhattan Associates Inc. said Monday that its upgraded transportation management system (TMS) software can help both shippers and carriers to optimize their networks and fulfill customer commitments more profitably.

Manhattan's TMS now offers improvements to its modeling capabilities, carrier connectivity and benchmark rating, and global logistics support, the Atlanta-based software vendor said April 29. The "cloud-first" platform can help users boost their efficiency by supporting network-wide visibility that enables strategic and operational planning, execution, and real-time route adjustments, the company said.

In another upgrade, Manhattan said the product's Manhattan TMS Mobile feature—which was originally designed for carriers—now also gives shippers and transportation planners mobile access to real-time shipment status updates, resulting in improved service levels and enhanced customer support. The mobile app also now offers seal management, Spanish and Portuguese language support, and the option to use non-commercial third-party navigation apps (such as Google Maps and Waze) to enable turn-by-turn directions.

"Manhattan is dedicated to helping our customers overcome the challenges of today's transportation environment through a significant and continued investment in TMS technology, resources and strategy," Gregg Lanyard, director of product management for Manhattan Associates, said in a release.
