TransForce, a U.S. commercial truck driver staffing company, said today it acquired the assets of Toronto-based K.A.S. Personnel Services (KAS), which provides similar driver staffing services in the Ontario, Canada, market. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
TransForce will continue to operate in Ontario as KAS Staffing LTD, according to the Springfield, Va.-based company.
"KAS is a well-established provider of quality drivers in the Ontario market, and we are very pleased to have the opportunity to offer our U.S.-based clients additional support across the border in Canada," said David Broome, TransForce's president and CEO, in a statement.
The KAS acquisition is the sixth in the past three years for TransForce, which was founded in 1991. Broome said the company plans to remain acquisitive.
In an e-mail today, Broome said it is becoming as much of a challenge recruiting qualified drivers in Canada as it has been in the U.S. However, driver retention levels among Canadian truckers are better than they are in the U.S., where the truckload driver turnover rate has at times approached 100 percent.
