TGW introduces a fully automated and very modular picking solution for retail distribution centers. The TGW PerfectPick solution handles every SKU directly on its conveyor and storage equipment without the need for additional load carriers. The system's lean modules, based on standardized components, enable customers to choose among different levels of automation, depending on their individual needs.
The PerfectPick solution easily handles a wide range of product sizes and weights. The process starts with the automated depalletizing of single-SKU pallets coming directly from receiving or pallet storage. Layer by layer, the fully automatic depalletizing unit—Splitex—separates each package or carton from the pallet and delivers it to the automated conveyor system that feeds the subsequent operations, including automated storage.
TGW's automated mini-load storage and retrieval technology—Twister—handles the singularized SKUs. Between one and four packages of the same incoming product are stored in one storage channel, depending on their size, while providing access to each individual SKU.
Within the mini-load sequence buffer, two high-speed TGW Commissioner AS/R machines sort the incoming SKU batches into a rack to create an optimum sequence. When needed, the products are discharged in sequence to the palletizing process using TGW's Autostax palletizing unit. This system can load more than eight pallets per hour with an average of 90 cartons per pallet. The customer can also opt for the highly ergonomic manual palletizing work station Slotstax. The worker at the Slotstax is provided with the right products by the fully automated conveyor system in a predefined sequence. The pallet position is automatically adjusted to its actual loading height. The finished pallet is then automatically shrink-wrapped and made ready for shipping.
