Intermec has introduced the CK31ex, a handheld computer with integrated near-far area imaging technology that can read virtually any symbology from 6 inches to 50 feet. Its extended range means that companies can apply the benefits of area imaging across their total warehouse operations, providing new application opportunities and efficiencies.
The CK31ex is the first device to integrate the Intermec Intellibeam EX25 auto-focus near-far scan engine. It reads and decodes one- and twodimensional bar codes as well as composite codes and postal codes, from near or far, in any orientation. It can also read bar codes printed on plain paper at long distances, eliminating the need for expensive retro-reflective label media.
Because it can read from a long distance, the unit can capture information without the need for workers to twist their wrists to align with the bar code. It also enables users to capture images suitable for proof-of-delivery and documentation of damaged, expired, or unsealed goods. Its unique auto-focus technology ensures accurate, motion-tolerant scanning even under dim lighting conditions.
The rugged handheld computer features a Microsoft Windows CE.NET operating system, optional factory-loaded terminal emulation support, a bright quarter VGA (video-graphics array) color touch display, and a Cisco-compatible 802.11 b/g radio. It also has multiple keyboard options to provide flexibility for a variety of warehouse applications. An optional user-installable and removable pistol-grip handle is available for highly repetitive scanning. It also supports Intermec's SmartSystems Foundation, which provides a single, integrated environment for handsfree deployment and management of devices located anywhere in the enterprise.
