RK Logistics Supports Boys and Girls Club Summer Camp Scholarship Fund with $5,000 Donation

FREMONT, CA -- AUGUST 6, 2019 -- RK Logistics Group, a Silicon Valley leader in third-party logistics (3PL), has for the fourth consecutive year teamed up with the Boys & Girls Club of North San Mateo County to help fund the organization's summer scholarship program for local underserved youth.

RK's $5,000 donation, made earlier this year, was recognized at the organization's recently held 4th annual Where Great Futures Begin luncheon, which honored the many contributors from business and academia who support the program. The funds are underwriting summer programs and activities for Club members and their families that include educational field trips, intellectually stimulating and physically challenging events and activities and other enrichment programs in a safe and secure environment.

The focus of the summer program is on "learning loss prevention and expanding learning opportunities that impact low-income youth, who lose more than two months' worth of reading skills" over the summer break, noted Aubrey Merriman, CEO, Boys and Girls Clubs of North San Mateo County. The local Boys & Girls Clubs organization operates five clubhouses in two North San Mateo County cities, has over 500 teen members, serves over 450 youth daily and over 4,500 annually."

"Our mission is to inspire and enable young people to realize their full potential and contribute to their communities," said Merriman. "We are extremely grateful to RK Logistics for its ongoing support of this program; they have been a sponsor from the start," he added. "Their contribution will enable us to continue providing hundreds of underserved children in our community with programs and curriculum to help them achieve academic excellence, health and wellness."

"We are pleased to once again support the Boys & Girls Clubs of North San Mateo County and the important role they fulfill in helping those less fortunate in our communities to have a safe and enriching place to go for worthwhile and productive after-school and summer activities," said Rod Kalune, chairman and CEO of RK Logistics Group.

"It's an investment in one of our most important assets - the underserved, young people in our communities. Thanks to Boys & Girls Clubs of North San Mateo County, they have access to enriching and supportive programs that build confidence, character and the 21st century skills to rise above and be successful future leaders."

A privately held minority business enterprise, Fremont-based RK Logistics Group is a growing local company with over 400 employees. The company operates 13 warehousing centers in the greater Bay Area representing nearly 1 million square feet of commercial distribution space for inventory management, manufacturing support and ecommerce fulfillment.

RK is also an industry leader in adopting autonomous robot-assisted order picking and fulfillment technologies, and creating special industry-specific programs, such as sequencing parts into lean production lines at automotive and technology equipment factories, and just-in-time (JIT) deliveries to construction sites.

In addition, RK Logistics operates the South Bay's only certified, general purpose Foreign Trade Zone, which allows Silicon Valley manufacturing and importing companies to benefit from various trade policies and practices that can reduce administrative regulatory costs and associated tariffs and duties for imported goods, while protecting the integrity of high-value products in secured environment and improving supply chain velocity.
