Trucker Tools Brings Ryan Transportation On Board With Smart Capacity

Leading 3PL streamlines truckload capacity management, improves shipment visibility, secures higher-quality loads for carrier partners through Trucker Tools predictive freight-matching tools, real-time load tracking

Trucker Tools Brings Ryan Transportation On Board With Smart Capacity

RESTON, VA - JULY 27, 2018 - Trucker Tools LLC, which provides shipment visibility, carrier capacity management and predictive freight-matching solutions for the transportation industry, announced that
Ryan Transportation Service, Inc., a leading North American third-party logistics (3PL) provider, has selected Trucker Tools for load matching, capacity planning and management and shipment visibility software services.

Founded in 1986, Overland Park, Kansas-based Ryan Transportation is a national 3PL firm providing a full range of supply chain, freight brokerage and transportation management services. With operations throughout North America, Ryan Transportation serves industries including food & beverage, chemical, building materials, construction, packaging and oil and gas.

Ryan Transportation is implementing two of Trucker Tools' principal offerings: Smart Capacity and Load Track.

With Smart Capacity, Ryan Transportation is implementing an advanced platform and functionality which provides predictive freight-matching processes and workflows, capacity management, accurate visibility into future available capacity and other broker-carrier collaboration features. Smart Capacity enables brokers to dramatically compress the time - and cost - to secure the optimal match of truck to load.

The deployment of Load Track provides Ryan Transportation with a real-time shipment visibility application, built on Trucker Tools' industry-leading mobile application for drivers. The app uses their smart phone GPS to capture and transmit continually updated location information for trucks and shipments. All information is sent using Trucker Tools' confidential, secure network. The mobile app has been downloaded by more than 500,000 North American truck drivers since its launch in 2013.

"With Smart Capacity, we look to create internal efficiencies that allow our employees to do more in less time. An example of this is finding the hidden capacity within our own network that used to take time to search and call on a regular basis," explained Jeff Henderson, senior vice president of operations at Ryan Transportation. "The combination of Load Track and Smart Capacity will provide our customers with better capacity options and the ability to track freight in real time, which has always been a challenge for third-party providers."

Henderson added that with technology and process improvement advances available with Trucker Tools, Ryan Transportation can function and perform as an asset-based carrier in the customer's eyes. "But with one great advantage," he emphasizes. "We never run out of equipment like an asset carrier. We have the advantage of thousands of carrier partners who we can quickly share information in real time. This creates tremendous value for our customers on a daily basis."

Ryan Transportation will also benefit from rapid on-boarding thanks to pre-built integration templates Trucker Tools has developed with major Transportation Management Systems (TMS) providers. These include McLeod's PowerBroker, which is Ryan Transportation's TMS system of record.

Lastly, Ryan Transportation is taking advantage of additional Trucker Tools carrier collaboration features to further cement its reputation as a carrier-centric organization. "We want to help our carriers manage costs by using the Trucker Tools mobile app to show preferred fueling stations with the best discounts," noted Henderson.

"We place significant value on our carrier partners. By providing them with financial services and fuel and freight opportunities, we increase the value to our shipping customers," he said.

Prasad Gollapalli, founder and CEO of Trucker Tools, noted that Ryan Transportation's strategic decision to engage with Trucker Tools illustrates the potential for brokers and 3PLs to gain immediate benefits and competitive advantages from advanced freight-matching and visibility tools.

"We have the same vision for these technologies and how they will be an enabling force to make the broker community more efficient, effective and responsive to shippers and carriers," Gollapalli noted. "We share these goals and we will continue to work with Ryan Transportation to improve and enhance the functionality, features and benefits of our platform and tools."
