Panel Built Increasing Security Measures in Supply Chain

7/26/2018 - ATLANTA, GA - Companies in the Transportation, Logistics, Warehousing, & Supply Chain sector have one security officer for every 417 employees based upon a study done by the National Criminal Justice Reference Service in 2009 (the least number of security guards to employees of all sectors in the study).

Unsurprisingly, businesses in the "casinos, hospitality, areas & entertainment" industries had an average of 1 security officer for every 38 employees. Businesses in those industries have one common factor in that they are not only tasked with protecting their product but also protecting public patrons that are filling their facility. However, employees in the former sector do not get this same level of protection, even though they are often tasked with transporting/moving equipment, products, or people that are of the same level of value as the latter. In order to rise to the same level of physical security as these entertainment industries, the transportation and supply chain sector would need to increase the number of security officers in each of their transportation hubs. This increase in security and safety offers peace of mind to employees and an added layer of assurance to the well-being of the facility.

Overall, for a business to provide the most effective security system possible, the company will need to take advantage of a number of different security techniques to provide the property with the most effective security system possible. For a majority of the sectors in the survey, the main action taken to increase the perimeter security of their facilities and implement an access control system in order to control the flow of traffic coming in and out. In most cases, the access control point was regulated by a security officer in a guard booth structure along the outer edge of the property. With the immediate area of the perimeter being observed and protected by guards, any emergencies and intrusions are immediately met with reinforcements, protecting the interior of the facility. Panel Built Inc. offers modular guard booths that can be fully installed into a facility in a matter of hours, providing any facility with a security focal point instantly.
