BDP INTERNATIONAL EXPANDS INDIAN PRESENCE WITH NEW OFFICES IN HYDERABAD AND BARODA

PHILADELPHIA (June 29, 2017) — BDP International (BDP), a leading privately owned global logistics and transportation solutions company, has announced the opening of two new Indian offices in Hyderabad and Baroda.

BDP has maintained a presence in India since 2010, and integrated Unique Global Logistics Ptl Ltd (one of the leading project logistics companies in India) into its operations in 2014. The new locations are BDP's fifth and sixth in the country, joining Bangalore, Barmer, Chennai and Gandhidham. The two new offices bring the Philadelphia-based company's global presence to 144 offices in 36 countries, serving more than 134 countries via the BDP network.

"Our continued efforts to strengthen our position in India is part of a strategic and long-term investment to the region," said BDP Chairman and CEO Richard J. Bolte, Jr. "We're excited to see these plans continue to take shape and allowing us to exceed our customers' demands as supply chains continue to globalize."

BDP Hyderabad
The Hyderabad office will focus on providing service to global and local customers, offering BDP's key capabilities, including international transportation by air and ocean, project logistics and import/export logistics.

A presence in Hyderabad will allow BDP to improve efforts in some of the most important provinces in India, particularly Andhra and Telungana. The office will focus on developing opportunities in the pharmaceutical, chemical, engineering and energy sectors.

BDP Baroda
The Baroda office is strategically located in the state of Gujarat, home to leading chemical, petrochemical and heavy-engineering companies.

This advantageous location will allow BDP employees to cater to a growing demand of import/export customs house brokerage (CHB) activities for the region's chemical customers. The office is slated to incorporate full service capabilities in the near future to respond to increased demand.

Australian supermarket chain rolls out AI-powered grocery carts

Grocery shoppers in Australia will soon be able to zip in and out of the store in record time, bypassing the lines for cashiers or self-checkout kiosks altogether. They can just walk in, make their selections, and walk out with their bags in hand.

The secret to this express shopping experience is the “Caper Cart,” an AI (artificial intelligence)-powered smart trolley from San Francisco-based Instacart. In its first deployment in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region, the system is being tested by Coles Supermarkets, a food and beverage retailer with more than 1,800 grocery and liquor stores throughout the country.

How green is your glue?

If you’re looking to make the packaging process more eco-friendly, the obvious place to start is with the box itself. And that’s exactly what Salt Lake City-based Packsize did when it made its initial foray into sustainable packaging back in 2002. That year, the company launched its first product, an innovative on-demand packaging system designed to reduce cardboard waste (and the need for filler material) by creating a right-sized box for each shipment.

Now the company is ready for the next step: greening up the glue.
