Company Responds to Growing Demand

GAINSystems Hires New Senior Director, Business Development in Europe

Chicago, IL - December 29, 2016 - GAINSystems is pleased to announce its recent hire of Frank Gesoff, who will join the company's international team as Senior Director, Business Development, Europe. This European-based position is newly created in response to growing interest for GAINS® software internationally. Frank will be working closely with Drazen Blagovic, the Head of EU Operations Services since 2010.

"So far, the European team has primarily been customer support and IT support," said Drazen Blagovic, Head of EU Operations Service at GAINSystems, Europe. "We are confident that this addition of a dedicated and seasoned business development executive to our global team will help us reach our goals even faster."

Frank brings over a decade of experience excelling in the Supply Chain Solution arena to the GAINSystems team. He established himself as an expert in sales and account management having secured and retained millions of dollars in new and repeat business. Frank also worked for a supply chain collaboration company for two years, and helped the company expand into the UK. Before working specifically with supply chain solutions, Frank worked primarily as a consultant across different industries, initially in the US and then in the UK. Going back to his early career, he was an IS and Project Manager at an aerospace company, which included the implementation of their ERP system. Frank graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in Troy, NY, USA, in 1986 with a Bachelor of Engineering in Industrial Engineering.

"We are excited to not only expand our European team, but to expand our Business Development team as well. With the growth GAINSystems has been experiencing, this is a great opportunity to continue our 2016 momentum and position ourselves for an excellent start to 2017," said Bill Benton, CEO of GAINSystems. "With Frank's impressive background, we are confident he will excel in this new role."

Australian supermarket chain rolls out AI-powered grocery carts

Grocery shoppers in Australia will soon be able to zip in and out of the store in record time, bypassing the lines for cashiers or self-checkout kiosks altogether. They can just walk in, make their selections, and walk out with their bags in hand.

The secret to this express shopping experience is the “Caper Cart,” an AI (artificial intelligence)-powered smart trolley from San Francisco-based Instacart. In its first deployment in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region, the system is being tested by Coles Supermarkets, a food and beverage retailer with more than 1,800 grocery and liquor stores throughout the country.

How green is your glue?

If you’re looking to make the packaging process more eco-friendly, the obvious place to start is with the box itself. And that’s exactly what Salt Lake City-based Packsize did when it made its initial foray into sustainable packaging back in 2002. That year, the company launched its first product, an innovative on-demand packaging system designed to reduce cardboard waste (and the need for filler material) by creating a right-sized box for each shipment.

Now the company is ready for the next step: greening up the glue.
