New Orleans Terminal, LLC Goes Live with Tideworks' Terminal Operating System

Terminal in the Port of New Orleans is the Latest to Implement Tideworks' Industry-Leading Solutions under a Software as a Service (SaaS) Model

New Orleans Terminal, LLC Goes Live with Tideworks' Terminal Operating System

Tideworks Technology® Inc., a full-service provider of comprehensive terminal management and planning software solutions, today announced that New Orleans Terminal, LLC, operated by Ceres Terminals Incorporated, has successfully gone live with Tideworks' terminal operating system (TOS) solutions under a SaaS model. New Orleans Terminal, LLC is the second terminal in the Ceres network to go live with Tideworks' solutions.

"The Port of New Orleans is very busy port complex at the center of important international trade lanes, so our terminal must operate smoothly and efficiently in order to manage the high volumes of traffic," said James Parker, vice president of Ceres Gulf New Orleans. "Tideworks delivered a comprehensive, high-quality solution and we're confident it will help us operate more efficiently. We're very pleased with the work they've done and the outstanding customer service the Tideworks team provided throughout the implementation process."

Ceres has deployed Tideworks' core TOS Mainsail Vanguard® as well as its Spinnaker Planning Management System®, allowing marine terminal operators to manage vessel, berth, yard and rail planning in one workspace . In addition, Tideworks implemented Traffic Control™, which allows for dynamic control of container handling equipment and electronic dispatching of work orders, and Forecast®, a web pOréal that helps terminals communicate faster and easier with trucking companies, shipping lines, and other parties.

Tideworks also integrated with a previously implemented, third-party gate automation system, which was a critical part of the project to effectively support New Orleans Terminal's unique gate operating practices. This included the addition of a robust and flexible appointment system, providing trucking companies the ability to schedule their activities in advance and thereby expedite gate transactions at the terminal. In addition, Tideworks is providing its managed EDI service, known as EDI PorterSM, enabling the terminal to effortlessly exchange information with its trading partners and other enterprise systems.

The IT infrastructure supporting the TOS is hosted at Tideworks' hardened data center. Tideworks has offered a SaaS option for its customers for many years and recently branded this offering as Citadel MC™. Customers who choose this option benefit from no upfront IT capital expenditure, typically quicker startup times, and a known total cost of ownership.

Tideworks provided comprehensive support during the implementation process, including project management, software configuration and installation, integration services, user training and go-live assistance. Moving forward, Tideworks will continue to provide its platinum maintenance and support services, which includes 24/7 technical support and all software upgrades.

"We are thrilled to have our TOS fully operational at New Orleans Terminal," said Michael Schwank, president of Tideworks. "They have been a pleasure to work with, and we're very proud of the result. We look forward to our continued partnership with Ceres."

The terminal went live with Tideworks' solutions in June 2016.
