Alliance Shippers Inc., a leading provider of global logistics services, is pleased to announce the addition of Michael Gicewicz to the Ohio Valley Sales Team in Cincinnati.

An Illinois native with more than 14 years of experience in the transportation industry, Gicewicz has had the unique opportunity to see the transportation industry from the vantage point of the shipper, trucker, warehouse, and rail provider.

After studying economics at the University of Arizona, he joined the family business — an import charcoal company — where he gained an understanding of international shipping and overweight transloading before co-founding an intermodal drayage and overweight transload operation.

Gicewicz gained additional experience with a Midwest 3PL warehouse and transportation company, where he took on leadership roles as retail compliance manager, drayage manager, and manager of transportation services.

He has also remained active in the industry, including five years on the board of the Intermodal Association of Chicago, where he currently serves as chairperson.

"Michael is a well-rounded professional who brings experience on both the vendor and customer side to the table," said Rick Plieninger, regional vice president of sales for the Ohio Valley. "His background will allow him to hit the ground running as he joins Alliance and becomes a valued member of our team."

In the coming months, Gicewicz will be relocating to the Indiana/Ohio region and reporting to Plieninger. As Account Manager, his responsibilities will include selling the entire Alliance Shippers portfolio of services.
