(TORONTO - March 2, 2016) - Kai Goellner, Product Development Engineer at Pelican BioThermal, a global leader in temperature-controlled packaging solutions serving the life sciences industry, will present during the 14th Annual Cold Chain GDP & Temperature Management Logistics Summit hosted by IQPC in Toronto, ON. Goellner will be joined by Canadian Blood Services Project Manager, Paul Derksen, to discuss how the two organizations worked together to uniquely configure portable, temperature-controlled solutions to meet Canadian Blood Services' product transport needs.

"The current container systems that are being replaced at Canadian Blood Services make use of expanded polystyrene insulation and water-based packs" said Goellner. "There were a number of limitations and challenges with the existing containers and shipping processes and they were looking for a more robust solution. We knew that our Cr?do Cube™ reusable passive technology, could be configured to suit their needs."

During the session, Goellner and Derksen will discuss:
• Vendor selection process
• Partnering with a vendor in the design, development and testing of thermally insulated shipping containers
• Implementation planning and managing change

"Partnering with Pelican BioThermal will allow us to improve how we will transport critical blood products," explained Derksen. "The new insulated shipping containers allow us to simplify our processes, while maintaining the efficacy of our products by keeping them at the required temperatures during transport.

Goellner and Derksen will present the session, titled "Developing and Implementing Effective Thermal Packaging Solutions," at 9: 45 a.m. on Thursday, March 3.
