Convoy links digital freight matching platform to BluJay TMS

Online truck brokerage Convoy will partner with supply chain software provider BluJay Solutions in the latest alignment of digital freight matching (DFM) and transportation management system (TMS) vendors.

The direct integration has already rolled out with select customers, enabling them to find reliable, affordable coverage from carriers, Seattle-based Convoy said today.Specifically, the moveprovides shippers with direct access to Convoy's instant market rates with guaranteed tender acceptance via BluJay's Transportation Management dashboard, according to Convoy.

BluJay said shippers currently using its platform will now gain access to additional options for strategically designing their supply chains. Customers will require no information technology (IT) resources to add Convoy services to their BluJay application, the firms said.

The linkup comes just a week after a similar pair of firms also integrated their software products. Freight marketplace vendor Uber Freight said Aug. 6 it would integrate its digital freight brokerage platform with MercuryGate Inc.'s TMS in a move to offer users greater visibility and capacity.

Convoy acknowledged the parallel between the two deals, but said it lacked enough specifics around Uber Freight's integration with MercuryGate to compare them. "What we can share is that with respect to our integration with BluJay, we've been working closely with the BluJay team for several months on ensuring the integration we're building supports joint customers in a seamless way. We've already started launching shippers together, and our respective client services teams are able to set up new customers in a turnkey fashion," Brooks McMahon, Convoy's vice president of partnerships, said in an email.

Linking its system with BluJay is Convoy's latest move to gain share in the crowded DFM sector since it raised a $185 million venture capital funding found in 2018 and rolled out its "dynamic backup" real-time freight booking platform and "automated reloads" feature for its online truck brokerage platform.
