Transport and logistics company Mid America Logistics said today it has opened an office in Guadalajara, Mexico, its first international location, as well as an operations center in Rogers, Ark., in the state's northwest region. The Rogers operation is the company's sixth U.S. location.
The Mexican operation is a wholly owned subsidiary that will function as St. Louis-based Mid America's primary base of cross-border operations, Spanish-speaking customer service and overflow center for back-office operations, the company said. The office is scheduled to go live the first week of September.
"Our clients continue to request transportation services to and from Mexico," said Josh Cale, the company's director of operations, in a statement. Despite the often stressful geopolitical headlines, cross-border demand remains strong, Cole said.
The Rogers office will commence operations in August, Mid America said. Kyle Walker, a northwest Arkansas native, will assume the leadership role.
"The northwest Arkansas economy continues to flourish," said Mid America President Mark Kummer in a statement. In the last year alone, our volume delivering into Arkansas has doubled and the number of Arkansas-based clients has quadrupled."
