Trucking and logistics company Ryder System Inc. said today it has opened a facility in Laredo, Texas, to support growing demand for cross-border supply chain management services. The 109,000-square-foot facility includes 6,400 square feet of office space, 51 dock doors, two ramps, and 114 trailer spaces, Miami-based Ryder said. The company has served Laredo for nearly 20 years. It also has operations in El Paso and Socorro, Texas.
With the new facility, Ryder estimates it will handle more than 11,250 cross-border freight movements each month on the U.S.-Mexican border. It manages the movements of more than 189,000 cross-border shipments annually between the U.S., Mexico, and Canada.
The Laredo facility complements Ryder's newly renovated yard in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico, which has capacity for up to 400 trailers, the company said.
