Warehouse racking and storage systems provider Interlake Mecalux has moved into an expanded distribution center in the Dallas region in order to keep up with growing demand in the U.S. market, the company said Monday.
The new facility is the sixth distribution center in North America for Interlake Mecalux, which also operates in Chicago and Pontiac, Ill., Sumter, S.C., and Tijuana and Matamoros, Mexico.
At more than 113,000 square feet, the new Farmers Branch, Texas, building includes both customer service offices and a warehouse with sufficient storage capacity to handle the increasing demand in the region, provide quicker lead times, and increase inventory and product availability to the market, Interlake Mecalux said.
Chicago-based Interlake Mecalux is the U.S. arm of Spanish storage systems vendor Mecalux S.A., which acquired UFC Interlake in 2009 for $30 million. Mecalux specializes in the design, manufacturing, sale, and service of steel racking, warehouse automation, automated storage and retrieval systems (AS/RS), warehouse management software (WMS), and other storage solutions.
Selling its products in more than 70 countries worldwide, the Mecalux group has 11 production centers: in Spain (Barcelona, Gijon, and Palencia), Poland (Gliwice), USA (Chicago, Sumter, and Pontiac), Mexico (Tijuana and Matamoros), Brazil (Sao Paulo) and Argentina (Buenos Aires).
