PSA Group names Gefco for $8.9 billion supply chain contract

Global logistics specialist Gefco will manage the manufacturing supply chain for PSA Group's Peugeot, Citroën, and DS automotive brands in a five-year contract, the companies announced Thursday.

The agreement with Courbevoie, France-based third party logistics provider (3PL) Gefco will cover the approximately 50 countries where PSA performs its manufacturing and distribution operations.

Under the agreement, Gefco will design and implement global logistics and transport solutions for Paris-based PSA, including managing and optimizing the entire supply chain, from sourcing components for production and assembly plants to distributing finished vehicles. In addition to these outbound and inbound logistics services, Gefco will also be responsible for distributing spare parts.

Gefco will be the PSA Group's sole partner in enacting multimodal processes that combine rail, road, sea, air, and inland water transport to create end-to-end solutions. A central part of its integrated role will be applying its advanced logistics engineering skills, in combination with IT and data-management systems, to provide real-time tracking and ensure the seamless interplay of the supply, storage, and distribution chains.
