  • A digital passage to India. RedPrairie Corp., a leader in global supply chain technology solutions, and Sonata Software Ltd., one of India's leading software services companies, have announced a strategic agreement whereby Sonata will market, implement and support RedPrairie's DigitaLogistix Supply Chain Execution suite in India and other parts of Asia. The first implementation under this agreement is currently in process at Hindustan Lever, the Indian division of global foods and personal care product giant Unilever. Under the agreement, Sonata will be a value-added reseller for RedPrairie throughout Asia, with responsibility for sales, marketing, implementation and customer support for RedPrairie's full supply chain execution suite.
  • Raise your glass. Symbol Technologies Inc., a global leader in enterprise mobility solutions, has teamed up with Vermont Information Processing Inc. to deploy Symbol handheld computers to the delivery and pre-sales mobile workforce of Monarch Beverage Co. Inc., a major beer, wine and liquor distributor based in Indianapolis. The handheld computing solution, built around the Symbol SPT 1800 ruggedized handheld computer and Vermont Information Processing software, enables salespeople and drivers to capture critical market data on the spot and transmit it electronically back to Monarch's host computer, eliminating the need for redundant data entry by back-office staff and allowing faster and more accurate order invoicing.
  • Monitoring the flow. During the next few months, Swisslog, in partnership with LOCANIS, will implement a warehouse management solution with integrated goods tracking functionality for Hassia & Luisen Mineralquellen Bad Vilbel GmbH & Co., a mineral water supplier based in Hesse, Germany. The order includes Swisslog's WarehouseManager system, LOCANIS' G-Track solution, and the corresponding IT hardware, for a total of three locations. This new system enables Hassia & Luisen to manage its block storage more efficiently, minimize the short-shipment ratio and track individual lots in line with EU Directive 178/2002.
  • Surround sound. Nature's Best, the largest privately owned wholesaler/retailer in the natural products industry, has installed Vocollect's voice-directed distribution system at its 343,000-square-foot warehouse facility in Brea, Calif. The company, which is using Vocollect's Talkman system for its piece and case picking operations, is now extending voice to its line loading (building pallets for shipment) activities and will be using voice to manage put-away in the warehouse within the next three months.

No reads. Unaccounted for boxes. Boxes sent to the wrong place. A logistics nightmare! But this nightmare doesn’t have to come true. SICK’s linear line scan camera is what dreams are made of for your logistics operations. And if you’re worried about motion and vibration from conveyor belts...well, there’s no reason...
