Boxes on a roller conveyorCold-storage third-party logistics (3PL) provider RLS Logistics is expanding its direct-to-consumer (D2C) packaging and fulfillment operations with renovations to facilities in Salt Lake City and on the East Coast, the company said today.

Newfield, N.J.-based RLS said it recently completed a renovation project at its Salt Lake City logistics center that doubles the facility's capacity, allowing the firm to increase its packaging and fulfillment service for products shipped throughout the West. The firm has begun similar operations at its East Coast logistics center in Newfield, which will more than double capacity as well, according to the company.

"As part of the renovations, we are adding a new dry warehouse location nearby in Vineland, New Jersey, which will handle packaging and other ambient items currently housed in Newfield," Ken Johnson, executive vice president of the RLS warehousing group, said in a statement announcing the changes. "We expect this second phase to be completed and operational in the first quarter of 2020."

RLS also said it is evaluating potential locations for a D2C fulfillment center in the Midwest that would expand the firm's ability to provide two-day ground transportation to the 48 contiguous states.
