STAR 4 vehicle restraint system enhancements

November 1, 2007
No Comments

Kelley Co. has announced enhancements to its STAR 4 vehicle restraint system. The Kelley STAR 4 is designed to engage a vehicle's rear impact guard to hold the vehicle at the dock during the loading and unloading process. This reduces the risk of premature trailer departure, trailer landing gear collapse, trailer creep, and trailer walk.

While the outward appearance of the new STAR 4 is nearly identical to the original model, the activation system and control-panel configuration are noticeably different. The new STAR 4 offers a higher level of automation and convenience, utilizing a restraining arm that at the touch of a button, is raised and lowered automatically by a linear actuator drive system. The programmable logic controller (PLC) also offers more program intelligence and flexibility to meet the unique, evolving needs of a facility.

The STAR 4 has a restraining force of more than 30,000 pounds and can hook and hold virtually any style of rear impact guard. A patented sensor bar uses standard LED interior and exterior communication lights to communicate positive hook engagement. The new, compact control panel, which measures just 14 by 16 inches, uses state-of-the-art circuit board technology.

DCV-TV 4: Viewer Contributed
Recently, the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP) released their 33rd Annual State of Logistics Report which is created by AT Kearny. I've viewed this as basically a "Report Card" for shippers and carriers since it offers a comprehensive view of what they both have dealt with in the past year,...
