Transnorm System has introduced to the North American market a new vertical sortation product line for baggage handling: Vertiswitch Airport. Transnorm delivered the first Vertiswitch system in 2003 to the Innsbruck Airport in Austria. Since then, the design has been improved dramatically. The current design is capable of operating at 2,700 bags per hour. Though capable of high speeds, this system remains compact in size, allowing customers to utilize the cubic space above their conveyor.
The Vertiswitch is a stand-alone, tubular-framed unit that can be integrated into a new system or added into an existing system. The unit is designed around the plug-and-play concept, with all sensors and signals integrated into a single interface. Access to the unit is protected to assure the safety and security of the units and personnel. The unit can come with its own control panel or can be controlled as a part of the overall system.
