EKX 513-515 electric man-up turret trucks

July 1, 2007
No Comments

The Jungheinrich Lift Truck Corp. is introducing a new, much more energy-efficient and versatile version of its EKX 513-515 electric man-up turret trucks. Designed for very narrow-aisle work in dense-storage warehouses and distribution centers, these new three-wheel, high-rack stackers also offer radiofrequency identification (RFID) technology as a standard feature.

These new 80-volt electric trucks are 30 percent more efficient in reclaiming energy from load and cabin lowering compared to prior versions of the trucks. The conversion of the battery's DC power to AC is also considerably more efficient, giving the trucks more hours of work output per battery charge. Users will typically see up to 13 hours of run time versus 10 hours on the previous models.

The new RFID technology incorporated into each vehicle includes the placement of an RF transmitter and receiver underneath the truck and the burying of a small capsule-sized transponder into the warehouse floor. Users can then program the capsule to be able to issue a range of commands whenever the truck passes over it?for example, slow down, limit lift height, sound the horn, and so on. Virtually any driving parameter of the truck can also be changed with appropriate programming in the capsule. The truck control system also knows exactly where the vehicle is in the warehouse at all times.

An electrically adjustable operator's console allows users to adjust to the position most ergonomically suitable to the particular operation, such as lifting and lowering loads or driving the truck. A press of a switch adjusts the console position, and another locks it in place.

In addition, Jungheinrich can configure the truck's mast in two or three different stages for various lift heights. The company also offers five basic chassis with a variety of axle widths. The truck can also be configured to handle a variety of pallets. The EKX trucks, like all Jungheinrich electrics, are based on high torque and wearfree three-phase AC technology.
