CBRE PROMOTES THOMAS MONAHAN TO VICE CHAIRMAN

Saddle Brook, NJ - June 28, 2018 - CBRE announced that Thomas Monahan has joined the exclusive ranks of CBRE's top producers, earning the title of Vice Chairman. This is both an impressive milestone for Tom, and the first time that a CBRE sales professional in New Jersey has achieved this title.

Highly respected among owners and occupiers throughout New Jersey and the greater New York metro area, Tom was the top industrial producer throughout the Americas in 2017, completing more than 50 transactions with an aggregate value of more than a half-billion dollars. Tom has consistently been the top producer in New Jersey and among the top one percent throughout the country for CBRE.

Tom has been at the forefront of several market-changing transactions, including the $820 million portfolio sale between Morris Companies and Prologis in 2015, which included eight industrial properties and 13 retail centers. More recently, Tom and his team handled a 923,000-sq.-ft. lease to an e-commerce company in Edison on behalf of Seagis Property Group, and a 695,000-sq.-ft. lease to a Fortune 100 Company on behalf of Prologis, also in Edison. Tom and his partners also advised Bridge Development / Duke Realty on the highly successful e-Port project, including site acquisition, development advisory, marketing and lease-up, and portfolio disposition for this three-building project totaling over 1.2 million sq. ft.

"Our clients rely on CBRE's world-class professionals to provide the solutions and outcomes they need, and Tom exemplifies what it means to deliver, and often over-deliver, for them," said Jeff Hipschman, senior managing director, CBRE. "I'm proud to recognize this major milestone achievement for Tom and his team."

Monahan has been recognized year after year by the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors (SIOR)—the industry's leading consortium of industrial and office real estate professionals—as the region's top industrial sales producer.

Beyond his production achievements, Tom takes great pride in the hard work, dedication and many achievements of his team. He thanks Anastasia Lazarides, Stephen D'Amato, Larry Schiffenhaus, and Gerard Monahan for their continual commitment to the success of each of their projects on behalf of their clients.

Australian supermarket chain rolls out AI-powered grocery carts

Grocery shoppers in Australia will soon be able to zip in and out of the store in record time, bypassing the lines for cashiers or self-checkout kiosks altogether. They can just walk in, make their selections, and walk out with their bags in hand.

The secret to this express shopping experience is the “Caper Cart,” an AI (artificial intelligence)-powered smart trolley from San Francisco-based Instacart. In its first deployment in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region, the system is being tested by Coles Supermarkets, a food and beverage retailer with more than 1,800 grocery and liquor stores throughout the country.

How green is your glue?

If you’re looking to make the packaging process more eco-friendly, the obvious place to start is with the box itself. And that’s exactly what Salt Lake City-based Packsize did when it made its initial foray into sustainable packaging back in 2002. That year, the company launched its first product, an innovative on-demand packaging system designed to reduce cardboard waste (and the need for filler material) by creating a right-sized box for each shipment.

Now the company is ready for the next step: greening up the glue.
