WACO Pakistan member WWG Consolidators launches Pak-Afghan transit desk

London, UK, Tuesday, 25th July 2017 - WWG Consolidators Ltd (WWGC), The WACO System member for Pakistan, has launched a dedicated cross-border Pak-Afghan transit desk.

The decision to launch the transit desk came after the Pakistan Government announced it will establish state-of-the-art transit facilities at the country's borders with Torkham and Chaman, Afghanistan and Wagah, India, under the Integrated Transit Trade Management Systems (ITTMS) project.

The ITTMS project was approved by the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council in Autumn 2015 and is being executed under the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation-Regional Improving Border Services (Carec-Ribs).

"Afghanistan and Pakistan have rapidly growing economies and tremendous business opportunities for partners around the globe," said Richard Charles, Executive Director, The WACO System.

"We are extremely proud of, and excited for, WWG Consolidators. It shows how innovative and forward thinking our members are, and brings new business opportunities not only for fellow WACO members but independent forwarders worldwide."

Afghanistan's border with Pakistan is the longest of the country's seven, and WWGC's tailor-made forwarding solutions will facilitate its imports in particular.

WWGC has made an agreement with a cross-border transit operator, whose offices are located at the Pak-Afghan borders as well as in Kabul, Kandahar, and Mazar-e-Shareef with a dedicated bonded fleet.

"The Afghan transit trail is becoming increasingly important especially taking into account the country's ongoing major rehabilitation and rebuilding projects," said Jahangir Raza, WWG Consolidators.

"It is a very challenging task, especially in a war-torn country like Afghanistan, but we have witnessed it first-hand - the business potential in Afghanistan is tremendous.

"We have had great feedback from our partners, and we do believe that continuous partnerships can help us achieve even more."

The Karachi-headquartered forwarder offers tailor-made solutions, including commercial and non-commercial transit cargo, duty exemption process, legalisation, security escort, and Shipper's Own Container (SOC) re-selling and/or disposal in Afghanistan.

The WACO System has 112 members in 109 countries and holds two meetings a year, facilitating hundreds of bilateral meetings for members to network and grow business.
