Green Mountain Technology Releases Second Annual Benchmark Research Report

Green Mountain Technology Releases Second Annual Benchmark Research Report

Memphis, Tenn., June 6, 2016 - Green Mountain Technology (GMT), a leading provider of Parcel Spend Management solutions, has released "The Impact of Brand Strategy on Parcel Transportation: 2017 Annual Benchmark Report" to customers and survey participants.

In the first quarter of 2017, GMT in collaboration with Cleveland Research, completed the second Annual Benchmark Survey focused on emerging trends in retail brand strategy and impacts on order fulfillment and parcel transportation. The survey netted nearly 80 responses from some of the largest brands in the U.S. GMT began this research initiative to support customers with thought leadership content regarding the latest trends in the parcel industry.

A first look at the data was given during GMT's 12th Annual Parcel Summit at the Peabody Hotel in Memphis, Tenn. on May 17-18. Attendance for the Parcel Summit nearly doubled in 2017 and included more than 100 executives from the largest retail, e-commerce, manufacturing and life sciences brands in the U.S. Data from the Benchmark was featured in several sessions and Summit attendees identified this as a key component of the Summit.

"What was most valuable was verifying the trends of our industry and seeing, discussing, and exchanging thoughts on how to most effectively respond in order to stay relevant in our market," explained Summit attendee, Ray Shearer, Transportation Director at Thirty-One Gifts. "I would recommend the Parcel Summit to others."

Australian supermarket chain rolls out AI-powered grocery carts

Grocery shoppers in Australia will soon be able to zip in and out of the store in record time, bypassing the lines for cashiers or self-checkout kiosks altogether. They can just walk in, make their selections, and walk out with their bags in hand.

The secret to this express shopping experience is the “Caper Cart,” an AI (artificial intelligence)-powered smart trolley from San Francisco-based Instacart. In its first deployment in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region, the system is being tested by Coles Supermarkets, a food and beverage retailer with more than 1,800 grocery and liquor stores throughout the country.

How green is your glue?

If you’re looking to make the packaging process more eco-friendly, the obvious place to start is with the box itself. And that’s exactly what Salt Lake City-based Packsize did when it made its initial foray into sustainable packaging back in 2002. That year, the company launched its first product, an innovative on-demand packaging system designed to reduce cardboard waste (and the need for filler material) by creating a right-sized box for each shipment.

Now the company is ready for the next step: greening up the glue.
