Leading restaurant supplier begins moving all US imports through JAXPORT

Leading restaurant supplier begins moving all US imports through JAXPORT

Central Florida-based dining products supplier Blackwood Industries, Inc. is now shipping all of the company's imported products from Asia through JAXPORT. Blackwood supplies flatware, furniture, apparel and other items to businesses around the world, including popular U.S. restaurant chains, retailers and theme parks.

Blackwood will use a third party logistics provider to coordinate the movement of imported products through JAXPORT, as well as to handle warehousing and distribution

"As a Florida-based company, we are thrilled to have all of our import, warehousing and distribution operations right here in our home state," said William Green, Blackwood Sr. Director of Supply Chain Management. "Using JAXPORT helps us reach our U.S. customers quickly and efficiently. Looking to the future, we are encouraged by the investments the port is making to continue offering excellent shipping options from Asia."

"Blackwood's decision to move its imports through Jacksonville clearly reinforces the message that JAXPORT is just good business," said Eric Green, JAXPORT interim CEO. "The industry today demands the options, efficiency, costs savings and award-winning customer service we provide."

JAXPORT offers direct trade with Asian ports through both the Panama and Suez Canals. The world's three largest ocean carrier alliances, THE Alliance, 2M and Ocean Alliance, serve JAXPORT.

A federal project to deepen the Jacksonville shipping channel to 47 feet will give the largest container ships calling on the U.S. East Coast unobstructed access to the port's terminals.

Asian trade continues to be the fastest growing segment of JAXPORT's container cargo business, achieving double digit growth over the last six months.
