Alliance Shippers Welcomes New Director of Business Development

Englewood Cliffs, NJ - Alliance Shippers Inc., a leading provider of global logistics services, is pleased to announce the addition of Tom Charters to the role of director of business development.

After entering the field of transportation and logistics nearly a quarter century ago, Charters has since evolved right along with the industry. He brings to Alliance Shippers expertise that encompasses multiple modes of transportation, brokerage, and warehousing.

As the co-founder and president of Freightland.com Inc., Charters built a 3PL company specializing in LTL, truckload, expedited, airfreight, and international shipping over the course of a decade. More recently, he has focused on business development in the temperature-controlled field while selling supply chain solutions to major consumer packaged goods companies.

"Eight years ago I migrated to temperature control due to the emerging need in this segment," Charters said. "The benefits of rail intermodal in temperature control are enormous. From growing safety issues regarding food products, to the environmental benefits provided by this secure and safe mode of transportation, the segment for shippers with this need is expanding exponentially."

In his new role, Charters will broaden the Alliance Shippers sales coverage, particularly in the protective service division. "We were drawn to Tom's proven track record in the field along with his impressive work ethic and reputation," said Steven Golich, Executive Vice President. "We are pleased to welcome him to our team."

Responsibilities will include maintaining and growing an account base focused on the prepared foods industry in the Northeast and Midwest regions, working primarily in temperature control but also with shippers of general commodities.

"Alliance Shippers provides a service level that is above and beyond what I have experienced in all my years in this business," Charters added. "I am looking forward to working with my customers to help them reach their goals and improve their supply chains."

A native of the Greater Philadelphia region, Charters earned his B.S. in Economics and Marketing from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He continues to call the area home along with his wife and two children.
