ICAT Announces Transportation of Specialized Laser to Mexico

March 17, 2016
No Comments

Elkridge, MD - March 15, 2016 - ICAT Logistics, Inc. (ICAT), an award-winning and leading agency-based freight forwarder in the U.S., announces today that its expertise and creative approach to logistics coordination were responsible for a successful recent engagement with a Tier One automotive supplier, to move a specialized laser from Argentina to Mexico.

The project was inundated from the get-go with a bevy of significant challenges, ranging from sheer size of the laser itself, which, the team noted, was '... too large to fit in any aircraft other than the Antonov," the largest cargo airplane in the world, to budget, to a seriously compressed timeframe of just two weeks. ICAT was tasked with leveraging its experience, thorough industry knowledge, and innovative approach to come up with a feasible, effective solution.

A comprehensive schedule was immediately developed to guide all activities throughout the project, as the plant in Mexico was relying on the specialized laser to arrive on-time in order to uphold its aggressive production schedules to deliver effectively to its own clients. ICAT's team led the effort to de-install the laser to prepare it for the move, and then coordinated specialized trucking and loading activities, while coordinating with Mexican customs officials on-site to streamline the paperwork and documentation processes necessary (in just eight hours!) to proceed with transportation of the laser. From there, the logistics were coordinated to proceed with the transport and get the laser to the plant in Mexico on-time, and on-budget.

"Our goal is to always find a solution for any challenge our customer might be facing, no matter how large or small," says Chris Cser, Operations Manager and Director of International at ICAT Logistics in Detroit. "Meeting customers' needs and solving challenges, even the seemingly impossible ones, is what we do every day."

He adds, "It's a comfort for our clients to know that they are not alone and have a partner that will be with them, from the beginning to the end, to ensure the job gets done quickly and correctly each and every time, and it's our honor to be that partner."
