Kardex Remstar shows off sort2ship buffering and sequencing unit

Kardex Remstar, a provider of automated storage and retrieval systems, displayed its sort2ship application at the ProMat trade show this week.

This latest product from the Westbrook, Maine, company, is intended for high-speed case and tote buffering and sequencing, as well as automatic goods-to-man order picking for small parts inventory.

The unit combines a modified version of the company's Megamat RS Vertical Carousel with an inserter/extractor and a conveyor, providing a high level of automation in a compact package. The combination allows users to draw products from the full range of storage lift, vertical carousel and static shelf storage systems, hold the items for buffer storage, then sequence them on demand for customer-specific shipping options.
