Conveyor equipment orders fell 10.2 percent in February, but shipments rose 12.9 percent compared to the year-ago period, the Conveyor Equipment Manufacturers Association (CEMA) reported this week.
February orders were up sequentially, however, rising nearly 11% percent compared with January 2019 totals, according to CEMA's monthly conveyor statistics report. The association said booked orders for bulk handling equipment were flat and orders for unit handling equipment rose 18.4 percent compared with January.
Shipments rose sequentially, as well, up 4 percent compared with January. Shipments of bulk handling equipment rose 2.6 percent and unit handling equipment rose 4.4 percent, the group said.
