Refrigerated warehousing and freight consolidation service provider Burris Logistics has acquired third party logistics provider (3PL) Trinity Logistics, saying the merger of the two family-run enterprises will offer customers more end-to-end supply chain solutions.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but the acquisition is expected to be completed sometime in April.

As a $3 billion-dollar organization with 1,700 employees and 16 U.S. locations, Milford, Del.-based Burris said it plans to make no changes to Trinity, which is a Seaford, Del.-based firm specializing in freight arrangement and supply chain solutions with annual revenues of $550 million.

"Burris Logistics was poised to be the partner that would create more opportunities for the well-established Trinity Logistics," Donnie Burris, president and CEO of Burris Logistics, said in a release. "The strong Trinity brand will remain in place, and their successful team will continue to focus on providing high-quality logistics, with the additional resources of our transportation assets and supply chain solutions."

According to Burris Logistics, both companies will benefit by joining forces, since they will be able to leverage increased buying power, scale, and advancements in supply chain technology. "Both providers have dedicated technology teams which will allow us to grow technology platforms to attract new customers, carriers and agents," Nick Falk, president of Burris Freight, said in a release. "It is our intent that the Burris Freight Management brand will be replaced with Trinity Logistics as the transportation business unit of Burris."

Burris Logistics currently has four business units: Burris Custom Distribution, Burris PRW Plus (public refrigerated warehousing), Burris Freight Management, and Honor Foods (a redistributor of frozen, refrigerated and dry food service products).

The deal marks Burris' latest growth spurt, following its 2018 acquisition of the Iowa-based freight broker Streamline Logistics. Also in 2018, Burris opened a 250,000-square-foot refrigerated warehouse in McDonough, Ga., about 30 miles outside of Atlanta.
