Canadian semi-trailer manufacturer Manac Inc. said Aug. 31 it has acquired Alutrec Inc., a manufacturer of aluminum semi-trailers, in a move that could help Manac expand its presence in a specialized segment of the industry.
Alutrec, which is based in Laurier-Station, Quebec, will continue to operate independently in its current location, which features a 200,000-square foot facility about 30 miles southwest of Quebec City, according to Manac.
Manac, which is located about an hour away, in St-Georges, Quebec, will support the division through component purchasing, manufacturing processes, and marketing strategies, the company said.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Combining the two firms is expected to benefit both partners by complementing Alutrec's technical expertise in the aluminum flatbed market with Manac's strong share of the trailer industry, Charles Dutil, the president and CEO of Manac, said in a statement.
