Third-party logistics (3PL) provider Transplace said today it has named Frank McGuigan its new CEO. Tom Sanderson, who was CEO of Transplace for more than 14 years, was named executive chairman and will serve on the Frisco, Texas-based company's board of directors.
McGuigan joined Transplace upon its April 2011 acquisition of SCO Logistics, where he had been CEO. In his prior role at Transplace, McGuigan ran all of its North American sales and operations. The company said McGuigan will keep his current positions.
Transplace, a privately held company founded in 2000 and acquired last year by private equity behemoth TPG, serves the U.S., Mexico, and Canada.
"Since joining Transplace, Frank has shown exceptional leadership in helping Transplace grow into a leading provider of transportation management solutions and logistics technology, and this is the perfect time for him to become Transplace's next chief executive officer," Sanderson said in a statement.
Over the past decade, Sanderson has been active in lobbying on behalf of the industry for improvements to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration's (FMCSA) carrier and driver grading system, better known by its acronym of CSA.
