JDA gives five steps for building a digital supply chain

Firm's third "For Dummies" book covers trends of virtual reality, the Internet of Things (IoT), and advanced analytics.

Logistics tech vendor JDA Software Group Inc. is offering five steps for logistics professionals who want to build a digital supply chain, the company said Wednesday.

The advice is collected in an e-book titled Digital Supply Chain For Dummies that is available online. Published in the familiar style of the "For Dummies" series of educational guides, the tips give advice on how to tackle supply chain digitalization while leveraging virtual reality, the Internet of Things (IoT), and advanced analytics, Scottsdale, Ariz.-based JDA says.

JDA is hosting a series of on-demand webinars discussing each of the five steps, including:

Step 1: Digital Supply Chain Playbook
Step 2: Manufacturing Planning
Step 3: Transportation
Step 4: Warehouse
Step 5: Seamless Store

Attendees will learn about themes such as: supply chain digitalization, defining your playbook for digital supply chain success, creating digital strategies and technologies, linking IT to the digital supply chain, and critical success factors to a digital supply chain strategy, JDA says.

"We wrote the latest 'For Dummies' book as the playbook for supply chain practitioners to use as they tackle the sea change underway, giving guidance on the digital strategies and technologies customers will want to consider as they embark on their digital supply chain journey," co-author and JDA Group Vice President For Industry Strategy Fred Baumann said in a release. "The book also covers the bases for IT considerations in enabling the new digital supply chain and is meant to arm customers for success."

Intended for supply chain practitioners including retailers, manufacturers, and logistics providers, the book was written by JDA experts Glen Ceniza, Serge Massicotte, Anand Medepalli, and Baumann. It is the third time JDA has produced a technology book in the popular format, following Profitable Omni-Channel For Dummies and Supply Chain For Dummies.
