Transportation provider Logistics Plus Inc. has acquired the DoorLogistics container visibility platform from its parent company, SynchroNet Intermodal Services Inc., the firms said Thursday. Terms of the purchase were not disclosed.
The deal with Virginia Beach, Va.-based SynchroNet also included the RateNow optimization software product. Together, the tools will provide Logistics Plus and its customers with enhanced intermodal container visibility, competitive pricing, and operational support capabilities, the new owner said.
Erie, Pa.-based Logistics Plus will offer DoorLogistics services primarily to its third-party wholesale customers, such as brokers and freight forwarders. The bundled solution includes standard intermodal container (20-foot, 40-foot, and 45-foot) door-to-door pricing with operational and customer support services. This includes container tracking visibility, dedicated capacity, competitive pricing, and extensive power availability.
DoorLogistics automated systems manage operational activities including intermodal equipment reservations, document transmission, drayage, and rail line-haul. The embedded RateNow feature enables instant and optimized spot quotes for all single-origin or -destination door moves by checking more than 7 million tariff rates and 10 billion routing options to obtain the best rate possible.
SynchroNet will continue to provide its Ramp-to-Ramp service, leveraging its partnerships with multiple steamship lines, traders, and leasing companies to deliver a supply of intermodal equipment via an online, real-time search facility that offers equipment availability/inventory visibility, quotes and rates, equipment booking, rail billing, shipment tracking, and street-turns.
"Logistics Plus' acquisition of DoorLogistics, one of our fastest-growing services within SynchroNet Intermodal Services over the past four years, represents a significant milestone in the service's evolution," SynchroNet president and CEO Bob Baker said in a statement. "We are confident Logistics Plus will continue to grow DoorLogistics to its next level of success, and the team of former SIS professionals going to Logistics Plus will provide the most capable foundation for growth. Our focus continues to remain on building efficient cost-saving solutions for our customers in the maritime container marketplace."
