Descartes Systems Group, a Canada-based global logistics management solutions provider, announced April 20 that it has acquired fellow Canadian firm Imanet, a provider of enterprise and on-demand technology services to customs brokers, freight forwarders, exporters, and self-clearing importers.
Imanet focuses on enabling members of the international trade community to communicate with Canada Border & Security Agency (CBSA). Imanet adds approximately 50 members to Descartes' Global Logistics Network (GLN), Descartes said.
"Our focus is to bring together importers, exporters, customs brokers, transportation carriers, logistics intermediaries, and regulatory and customs agencies around the world in a shared-services environment using standardized business processes," said Art Mesher, Descartes' CEO, in a statement. "The acquisition of Imanet adds an important community of Canadian customs brokers to the Descartes GLN and an established connection and relationship with CBSA to benefit our international GLN community."
