FedEx Freight, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp., has awarded 14 four-year scholarships to college-bound children of its employees. Each of the winning students receives $2,000 per year, starting with the 2003-04 school year. The new scholarship program was established to honor the founders of the two operating companies that now make up FedEx Freight: Sheridan Garrison, founder of American Freightways, and Richard and Randolph Bangham, founders of Viking Freight. The National Merit Scholarship Corp. coordinates the scholarship selection process on behalf of Fed Ex Freight. Criteria include academic performance and extracurricular achievements.
