November was a busy month for Mark Parrish. A few days after being named chief executive officer of Cardinal Health's $77 billion Healthcare Supply Chain Services business, Parish delivered the keynote address at the second annual RFID Healthcare Industry Adoption Summit in Washington, D.C.
Parrish, named chairman of the Healthcare Distribution Management Association in October, urged attendees at the RFID Summit to step up efforts to comply with the Food and Drug Administration's Prescription Drug Marketing Act, which calls for track and trace capability for certain pharmaceuticals.
Before his promotion, Parrish was the group president of Healthcare Supply Chain Services' Pharmaceutical segment. In his new role, Parrish is responsible for all of Cardinal Health's supply chain units, which collectively distribute products from 3,000 manufacturers of pharmaceuticals, medical supplies and equipment to pharmacies, hospitals, clinics, and lab customers. One of Parrish's primary responsibilities will be overseeing Cardinal Health's ambitious plan to integrate its supply chain operations along with a broad range of related logistics services aimed at improving the delivery and economics of health care.
