Datalogic ADC's Gryphon GM4400 bar-code reader is now available in a Datalogic STAR 910MHz radio-frequency version. The Datalogic STAR Cordless System provides narrow-band communication that is resistant to interference from a facility's WiFi infrastructure. Additionally, it is not particularly sensitive to obstacles like concrete walls or metal shelving. It is a scalable solution, suitable for anything from simple point-to-point applications to point-to-multipoint installations with up to 16 readers connected to the same base station.
The GM4400 reader is an area imager that provides omnidirectional reading of both one-dimensional and two-dimensional bar codes, regardless of label orientation. It has a "four-dot aimer" and uses Datalogic's "Green Spot" technology. Because it uses Datalogic's Motionix motion-sensing technology, it can easily switch from being used on a stand to being used as a handheld. It also has nonflickering deep red illumination, which reduces eye strain, says the company.
The reader runs on a Lithium-Ion 2100 mAh battery, which provides 60,000 scans per charge. It is also able to store more than 1,200 linear codes. The reader has a radio range in the open air of 30.0 meters or 93.4 feet.
