Ivy Associates Ltd. unveils a logistics-focused damage detection product that visually indicates water presence within railcars, trailers, or intermodal containers. The new Ivy Water TattleTale is designed primarily for use in forest products and roll-paper transport.
Research has shown that roll damage from water entry can be hidden under the roll's protective outer wrap material and is often visually hard to detect based on low-light levels inside the conveyance equipment. Companies often do not have the staffs and resources to properly inspect suspect wet rolls. And on average, 25 percent of water-related roll damage is not found until after rolls are placed into inventory, which makes filing a damage claim more time-consuming and costly for both the receiver and shipper.
The Ivy Water TattleTale helps to solve these problems. The device, which is activated only by the presence of water, visually alerts receivers of roll-paper shipments that water-related damage might have occurred during transport. The Ivy Water TattleTale product can detect potential water damage even if the water has evaporated before the off-loading commences at the receiver's facility, and provides irreversible, visual documentation.
