Averitt Express, a freight transportation and supply chain management company, has announced a new less-than-container load (LCL) service from Asia known as Asia-Memphis Express. This new service is expected to translate into substantial benefits for importers, including transit times up to 10 days faster than traditional LCL service.
While Averitt has been providing LCL service from Asia for years, this new service has completely re-engineered the way the company is moving cargo as it integrates an LCL service with an LTL network.
The combination of ocean service and inland transportation, along with Averitt's exclusive relationships with partners in Asia, provides shippers with the ability to ship LCL containers on a fixed schedule directly to Memphis, Tenn. Under this concept, containers are first loaded in Asia and booked all the way to Memphis. After arriving at the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach, the containers don't have to wait at the port to clear customs. Instead they move immediately to Averitt's Container Freight Station (CFS) bonded distribution center in Memphis. There, cargo in the containers is deconsolidated and sent through Averitt's LTL distribution network directly to customers.
All of this translates into an LCL service that the company says is both faster and more consistent than any traditional LCL services in the market.
