Carrier Transicold introduces the ThinLINE DT container refrigeration system. This new system features a dualtemperature capability. A container can be split into two variablesized compartments, each with different temperature requirements. It can alternately cool one compartment and freeze another. Or, if refrigerating one compartment and heating the other is needed, it can do that too. This results in better container utilization and lower shipping costs. Instead of shipping two partial loads requiring different temperatures in separate containers, they can be shipped within a single 40-foot-high cube (HC) container. For added utility, the container can even be operated as a single-compartment unit, as needed.
The ThinLINE DT host unit, nearly identical to Carrier's ThinLINE NT unit, can freeze, refrigerate, or heat/defrost the front compartment. Refrigerating and heating/defrosting of the rear compartment is achieved with an aft evaporator that is mounted from the ceiling and protected by a steel cage.
An insulated moveable bulkhead partitions the container into two sections. The bulkhead slides along a track and adjusts six feet from center in either direction. This allows the compartment to be divided into two 20-foot compartments or into two compartments of variable size up to a 14-foot/26-foot combination. The bulkhead is hinged at the top and can swing up for single-compartment operation, allowing the container to serve as a standard 40-foot HC unit.
Included in the assembly are condensate drain lines and refrigerant lines for the remote evaporator, and a wiring harness sheltered in a recessed channel in the container ceiling. The system employs Carrier's MicroLink 3 controller, featuring digital displays that toggle between readings for the front and rear so operators can program and monitor both compartments from a single control.
