Hyster says it can handle any load, from ship to store

Hyster Co., known for its rugged lift trucks, was emphasizing its product line's ability to handle loads in almost any environment along the supply chain—"from ship to store," as the 40-foot replica of an ocean container hanging above Hyster's booth declared.

Accordingly, the company was showcasing products aimed at each of those industry segments, beginning with giant models for port and terminal operators, as well as the new H360-36/48HD heavy-duty lift truck series designed for demanding applications such as pipe handling, general and crated cargo, breakbulk, lumber, steel, and concrete. The H360-36HD has 36,000 pounds of lifting capacity at a 36-inch load center, while the H360-48HD provides 36,000 pounds of lifting capacity at a 48-inch load center. Hyster says the trucks incorporate durable components, including a well-integrated powertrain; an all-new, heavy-duty front end; and excellent all-around visibility. Hyster teamed with Cummins on the powertrain solution to provide maximum productivity, excellent fuel consumption, low emissions, and a long service life. The manufacturer says the truck offers up to 20-percent lower fuel consumption than some competitive products.

For warehousing and distribution centers as well as in-store use, Hyster debuted its all-new W45ZHD heavy-duty walkie pallet truck at Modex. With its heavy-duty fork frame and linkage with HTX bushings, the truck is specifically designed for harsh environments. Hyster offers a lifetime frame warranty; a one-year, unlimited-hour basic warranty; and a three-year, 6,000-hour powertrain warranty.

The W45ZHD walkie is available with Hyster's patented Intelligent Lift feature, which allows operators to simultaneously transport and lift pallets, thereby improving operator productivity by up to 25 percent, the manufacturer says. Trucks equipped with this technology automatically lift the pallet to the maximum fork height, without continually having to hold the lift button during transport. Another exclusive option is Intelligent Slow Down, which recognizes when the operator turns the truck during cornering and automatically decreases speed. An unusual feature is the high-frequency smart charger mounted on the pallet truck. Operators can plug it into any 120-volt outlet, eliminating the need to travel to a charging station.

Hyster also announced that it is deploying a new Kubota 2.5L premium LPG engine on its S40-70FT four-wheel cushion tire and H40-70FT four-wheel pneumatic-tire Fortis lift truck series. By offering three performance modes, the new engine gives the proper amount of power to achieve the best fuel economy and performance combinations.
