Due to concerns about global warming, European governments have been very active in considering and adopting regulations to curb greenhouse gases. To make sure its voice is heard before environmental laws and regulations are passed, the logistics industry needs to join together and talk as a group to European Union legislators about proposed regulations to reduce carbon dioxide emissions in transportation. That was the recommendation of CEVA Logistics Chief Executive Officer John Pattullo in a session in European sustainability initiatives at the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP) 2010 Annual Global Conference in San Diego.
CEVA Logistics, which is based in the Netherlands, is one of the founding members of the Alliance for European Logistics, a group that formed two years ago to discuss ways to reduce CO2 emissions. "We're committed to a dialogue on sustainability," Pattullo said.
