Danish robotic tooling manufacturer OnRobot has opened a research and development facility in Culver City, Calif., the company said Tuesday. The 6,000 square-foot Los Angeles-county facility is the company's first U.S. office devoted to research and development of its end-of-arm tooling for collaborative robotic applications, the company said.
The move marks another step in the Odense, Denmark-based company's U.S expansion efforts. The firm merged with Los Angeles-based Perception Robotics and Hungary-based OptoForce last year and later announced the opening of its U.S headquarters, in Dallas, in October.
Founded in 2015, OnRobot provides end-of-arm tooling such as electric grippers for collaborative robots (cobots) that are used in automated applications from material handling and packaging to machine operation, assembly, quality control, and welding. Following its merger with Perception and OptoForce last year, the firm acquired Purple Robotics, a Danish vendor of gripper technology designed for cobot applications, in August.
